Excerpt from Washington Business Journal dated June 3, 2011.
“Finding your way onto the Washington Business Journal’s annual list of Best Places to Work takes more than a fridge stocked with free Cokes, a foosball table in the lobby or a great CEO and a few standout performers. It requires a cohesive team of employees who enjoy their work, are passionate about what they do and know how to inspire themselves and their co-workers.
Our Best Places to Work process is different from that of many similar awards because the winners aren’t chosen through the subjective judgment of a group of editors or a review panel.
Instead, our list is based on a quantitative survey administered by Quantum Workplace, an independent company that asks employees to look at characteristics such as team effectiveness, trust in senior leaders and co-workers, manager effectiveness and employees’ alignment with the company’s goals.
That’s important to note: The data that determines our ranking comes directly from the employees and their personal experiences. A company must reach a certain threshold of employee participation to even be considered. Then the scoring begins.”
